Why Libby, Montana?

In and around Libby you'll find a 2.2 million acre playground of fishing, hiking, camping, boating, biking, golfing, spectacular scenery and peaceful surroundings. With three wilderness areas, over 140 lakes, two major rivers and hundreds of smaller rivers and tributaries, this region is truly some of the most beautiful county in the world.

The mountains of northwest Montana and Kootenai River Country can provide some spectacular winter recreation for the whole family. It's a fun time of year and the excitement caused by downhill and cross-country skiers, snowboarders and those on snowshoes is contagious. Miles and miles of groomed trails in the Kootenai region delight the snowmobile enthusiast. The trail systems offer incredible views of the Cabinet Mountains and other breathtaking scenery.

Beyond the mountains and trails, there's a number of additional exciting and fun activities to do in winter, including sled dog rides, ice skating, and even ice fishing. For a great winter time adventure, this is definitely the place to be!

For hunters, Montana's big game animal abundance speaks to the quality of the hunting opportunities. Elk, Moose, Deer, Bighorn Sheep, Mountain Lion, Turkey and Bear.

Additional weather comments:
Half of the days in July and August have maximum temperatures of 90 degrees or warmer, cooling quickly after sunset. Summer night-time lows are most commonly in the mid 40's. Humidity is low. On only 12 days a year, on average, does the temperature reach as cold as zero, on only 38 days does it remain below 32 all day. Average of 79 freeze free days per year with an average of 128 days between 28 degree freezes.
